Pavel Parfeni is a Moldovan musician, singer, and songwriter better known as Pasha Parfeny. He represented Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan, where his song “Lăutar” placed 11th. He was formerly known as the lead singer for the Moldovan band SunStroke Project. He will return to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023 with the song “Soarele şi luna.”
Parfeny, who was born in Orhei, had grown up surrounded by music. His mother taught piano at a local music school, and his father was a singer and guitarist. He began studying piano at an early age in Orhei and joined Tiraspol Music College in 2002, where he received more singing experience. In 2009, the band competed in Moldova’s national selection process for the Eurovision Song Process 2009, finishing third with their song “No Crime,” written and arranged by Parfeny. After his contract expired in the same year, he departed SunStroke Project to pursue a solo career and was replaced by Sergei Yalovitsky.
