Lee Dong-hwi (born July 22, 1985) is a South Korean actor and singer. He gained recognition through his role in the critically acclaimed television series Reply 1988 (2015–2016). Lee starred in the film Extreme Job (2019), the second-highest-grossing South Korean film in history. He is also a member of the South Korean supergroup MSG Wannabe.
Lee was born on July 22, 1985, in South Korea. He attended the Seoul Institute of the Arts, where he studied acting. After graduating, he began his career appearing in minor roles in film and television. Lee’s breakthrough role came in 2015 when he was cast in the tvN television series Reply 1988. The series was a critical and commercial success, and Lee’s performance as Ryu Dong-ryong, a loyal and supportive friend, was widely praised.
Since Reply 1988, Lee has starred in several successful films and television series, including The Handmaiden (2016), Confidential Assignment (2017), New Trial (2017), Extreme Job (2019), Pegasus Market (2019), and Glitch (2022). In 2021, Lee joined the South Korean supergroup MSG Wannabe, which was formed on the variety show Hangout with Yoo. The group has released several hit singles and has won several awards.
